AppSense DesktopNow

AppSense DesktopNow is a new and updated version of the existing AppSense Management Suite, introducing new features, capabilities and an updated look and feel. The AppSense DesktopNow product family represents the solutions within the AppSense User Virtualisation Platform that manage desktop environments,which is made up of:

AppSense Application Manager

Control application access, ensure license compliance, manage user rights and control network and web access.

AppSense Environment Manager

Setup, configure, lockdown, self-heal and personalise user environments across multiple devices and locations.

AppSense Performance Manager

Optimise CPU and Memory usage, improve server density, reduce response times and enable hardware consolidation.

AppSense Management Center

Deploy agents, configurations and patches, manage multiple configurations and monitor client health with events and alerts.

Appsense Certification Programme

AppSense has developed a global three tier certification programme for customers and partners to enable Appsense partners to demonstrate their ability to implement, configure and administer the Virtual User Infrastructure (VUI), and Appsense users to manage their environments. The three tiers are:

• AppSense Certified Professional
• AppSense Certified Specialist
• AppSense Certified Expert

They require a combination of classroom sessions, practical hands-on use and shadowing of live projects. These certifications link in to the new requirements for the AppSense CSP partner program. The AppSense Certified Professional (ACP), AppSense Certified Specialist (ACS) and AppSense Certified Expert (ACE) certifications provide knowledge and skill validation from the internationally recognised leader in user virtualization technologies.

Entrants to the programme must pass a series of examinations and staged projects in order to achieve the relevant level of certification. The Appsense exams will be available through the Pearson VUE exam centres.

AppSense User Virtualisation Platform (UVP)

The most powerful aspect of the AppSense UVP is that it complements both your existing and future desktop and application investments. In addition to spanning both physical and virtual desktop environments, AppSense UVP also enables cross-platform roaming across a wide array of operating systems, including Windows XP, Windows Vista Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. Users can also roam with ease between 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.

In addition, as you move towards a heterogeneous environment that combines native desktops and applications with virtualisation techniques, AppSense UVP integrates seamlessly with desktop and application virtualisation technologies from leading vendors such as Microsoft, Citrix and VMware.

The infrastructure delivers the user onto virtual, physical and streamed desktops and applications - or combinations of those mechanisms - and also can apply the user environment across operating system versions (e.g. XP, Vista and Windows 7, Server 2008, 32/64 bit). For existing desktops, migration capabilities move employees into dynamically delivered, standard desktops seamlessly.
