Overview This 5 day course is a combination of E-learning and instructor led workshop. The course covers the Nortel Linux servers for CS1000 as well as advanced troubleshooting techniques.
The course divides into 3 key areas
Technology Standards for Converged Networks ( E-learning)
Hardware & Software installation of COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) servers
Advanced Troubleshooting
The main constituent of the course will be practical exercises relating to the Installation and Troubleshooting areas.
Pre-Requisites
- A thorough understanding of CS1000 Rel 5
- Accreditation to NCSS CS1K Rls5 Installation & Commissioning
- Completion of the Technology Standards for Converged Networks ( E-learning)

More Information
The Bootcamp is specifically aimed at experienced engineers who may already hold the NCSS qualification.
By the end of the training you will be able to:
- Describe the functions of Linux based servers and the Hardware supporting them
- Install the base Linux and applications to the servers
- Configure the Servers to support Enterprise Common Manager including security service
- Configure the Servers to support the SIP Proxy with backup security service & NRS
- Administer Sets using the Basic Client Configuration (BCC) tool
- Perform Backup & Maintenance procedures on the COTS servers
- Define the different levels of access to the Call Server CLI
- Recognise error messages and use the system and documentation to interpret them
- Isolate Hardware and Software faults
- Interpret Fault scenarios and recommend corrective action
- Display a logical approach to solving system faults
Day 1 - 3
- COTS Overview Software options
- COTS Install Install Linux Base & Applications
- Security Configure Primary security server & certificates
- Configure ECM Add devices to be managed through ECM interface
- Subscriber Manager Use subscriber manager to populate address list
- BCC Configure & edit Sets Using Basic Client Configuration
- SIP Proxy - NRS Configure SIP Proxy to redirect Virtual Trunk calls
Day 4-5
- CLI Access Use different levels of CLI access to interrogate system
- Methodology Use a standard approach to isolating faults
- Documentation Use NTP’s to research errors and messages
- Practical Troubleshoot problem scenarios on systems.
Studies which would compliment the CS1KSEBC are the CS1k OCS integration course.
