Overview
Get hands-on experience integrating EMC Symmetrix V-MAX storage systems with VMware vSphere vCenter and ESX 4.0.
In this instructor-led course, you will acquire hands-on experience integrating EMC Symmetrix V-MAX storage systems with VMware vSphere vCenter and ESX 4.0. You will learn to provision, manage, migrate, replicate, and protect the VMware vSphere/Symmetrix V-MAX environment. You also will cover EMC Storage Viewer, PowerPath/VE, and VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) using EMC SRDF technology.

Lab 2: Deploy and set up SMC virtual appliance and SYMAPI Server
- Assign gatekeeper devices to a SMC appliance

Lab 3: Install, configure, and use EMC Storage viewer
- Install Solutions Enabler
- Install EMC Storage Plug-in
- Use Storage Viewer Plug-in to explore relationship between ESX and Symmetrix devices
Lab 4: Virtual machines on SRDF devices
- Create datastore on R1 device
- Storage vMotion
- Assign RDM to a VM
Lab 5: VMware vCenter SRM with EMC SRDF
- Install SRM and SRM Plug-in
- Install EMC SRDF Adapter
- Connect protection and recovery site
- Configure array manager
- Create protection group
- Create recovery plan
- Test failover
