Overview 

This expert level workshop focuses on the deployment of CLARiiON Remote Replication Software in a FLARE 28 CLARiiON environment. The skills taught here are useful for environments requiring data migration and/or disaster recovery solutions. Extensive hands-on labs are provided for MirrorView/S, MirrorView/A, SAN Copy, Incremental SAN Copy and FC/IP

implementations.


Pre-Requisites

Courses:

1. CLARiiON Host Integration and Management (MR-1CP-CLRNSP)

2. SnapView Configuration and Management (MR-1CP-SNPVSP)

Knowledge/Skills:

To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have knowledgebase and skills associated with the following:

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux administration and operation. The student should
  • A comprehensive understanding of CLARiiON storage systems and EMC SnapView
    A basic understanding of EMC’s MirrorView and SAN Copy software
  • PowerPath performance, transparent recovery and availability features in an open
  • systems host environment
  • SAN terminology, features, architecture, theory of operations, and management
  • including Fibre Channel and IP Storage networks concepts and EMC Connectrix
  • switches
  • A basic understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite, and IP addressing

    This course is intended for EMC Implementation personnel, ASN Partners, and Customers

    who presently or plan to:

    • Implemen remote data replication solutions in a CLARiiON environment
    • Utilize both FC and FC/IP technologies

    Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

    • Configure SAN Copy and Incremental SAN Copy for CLARiiON to CLARiiON data
    • Transfer
    • Manage and monitor SAN Copy sessions
    • Configure MirrorView/A and MirrorView/S for CLARiiON to CLARiiON data transfer
    • Manage and monitor MirrorView/A and MirrorView/S mirrors
    • Configure and manage MirrorView Consistency Groups
    • Discuss differences and similarities between FC/IP protocols
    • Configure a Connectrix MP-1620M switch to support remote data replication
    • Configure a Connectrix MDS9000 family switch to support remote data replication
    • Apply stated best practices when implementing remote replication solutions on CLARiiON storage systems
    • Configure and test FCIP connectivity
    • Configure and test iFCP connectivity

    • Create a Synchronous Remote Mirror

    • Promote and Test a Secondary Mirror Image

    • Create an Asynchronous Remote Mirror

    • Create and Test a MirrorView/A Consistency Group

    • Create a MirrorView/A Mirror with Navisphere Taskbar

    • Configure an EMC Connectrix MDS9216 switch for CLARiiON Remote Replication

    • Configure an EMC Connectrix MP-1620M switch for CLARiiON Remote Replication

    Assessments validate that you have learned the knowledge or skills presented during a learning experience. This course includes hands-on lab exercises to reinforce the concepts taught.
