Service Management

ITIL, ISO200000 and COBIT.

What will ITIL do for me?

ITIL Logo

ITIL provides a common-sense and flexible, adaptive approach of the ITIL processes relevant to your role within IT Services in general (with Awareness or Foundation Certificate courses), and your particular area of responsibility (with Practitioners Certificate courses) or, if you are an existing (or aspiring) Service Manager (with Managers Certificate course).

ITIL provides a common understanding of many processes and terms, allowing you to speak in a shared and non-ambiguous language with other professional contacts, and the value of the ITIL certification will increase your standing within the IT community.

What will ITIL do for my organisation?

The increased business reliability on IT demands that computer systems are available and providing the levels of service required enabling the business to compete in today's market place. Service Management is the key to achieving this fundamental standard, delivering a reliable, cost effective, quality service to the customer for the benefit of the business.

ITIL promotes optimum use of people, process and technology, improving the quality while reducing the total cost of IT services to the business, through increased pro-active management and continuous service improvement. ITIL is process-based, removing reliance on key individuals and teams, through a shared approach which encourages organisational learning

Promotes common understanding between individuals within your IT function, between IT and other parts of your business, and between your organisation and others (customers, partners and suppliers) by using common defined terms and processes

As ITIL is a framework of best practices, rather than a prescriptive methodology or standard, it can be adapted to fit your existing processes or working practices

ITIL is scalable, so can be adopted by your organisation whatever its type or size, and is non-proprietary and technology-independent, so has no specific platform requirements.

If you are considering adopting ITIL, you will find it greatly advantageous to have a skilled manager (with the Managers Certificate), and depending on the size and nature of your IT teams, one or more trained specialists (with Practitioners Certificate).

To ensure that any ITIL implementation is understood and receives support from those directly involved in its success, some Awareness or Foundation Certificate courses may be useful.
